Join a winning team!

The end of January is census time for Scouting nationally, and we are pleased and proud to say that the 2022 youth membership of 1st Romsey is up 40% on that of 2019: We have had a steady growth of children between the ages of 6 and 14 are now part of our Group. Some of our Explorers from around the District are also Young Leaders, helping with the younger sections. However we can only maintain this momentum if we have a solid base of adults, so we are always seeking to add to our team. This does not necessarily mean helping in a particular section, nor wearing a uniform – just as important are those working behind the scenes on finance, maintenance and administration. In return we can promise a great time, and the chance to build on personal skills, like teamwork, confidence and leadership. We can probably use whatever talents and time you have, but our particular priorities at the moment are:

Currently we have vacancies for:

  • Assistant Section Leaders
  • Support for the fund-raising team
  • Section Helpers (Beavers / Cubs / Scouts / Explorers)

For further information on these, or other opportunities, please contact Cam Beale, Group Scout Leader, using the “Adult joining link” button for all enquiries.

If you would like to help then please use our adult joining enquiries form.

We are always looking for additional people to join our team and help us provide lasting memories for our young members.

You can do this in many ways:

  • By becoming an occasional helper which allows you a flexible way of providing your support.
  • By becoming a leader and being a part of our weekly meetings in a more structured way and giving the other leaders additional support in numbers allowing for illness and other commitments which at times make it difficult for leaders to attend meetings.
  • By becoming a member of our executive team and assist with the administrative side of running the Group. This could be as Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary or looking at opportunities for Fundraising.
  • You can also volunteer to help with the admin for a particular section, taking the pressure off the leaders.
  • We also need parent reps for each section which are part of the exec team.
  • Attend a meeting and demonstrate a skill. This could be anything from craft, mechanical, circus, wood working or anything else that is interesting, educational and introduces a different experience to our young people.
  • Help us with maintaining our gear and hut and improving our facilities.

If you are interested in any of these opportunities and would like to know more, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are more than happy to explain in more detail!
